The Peace of Walking in Thunderstorms
Secure from the designs of malevolent minds
I and my feet alone
as the pummel of rain and riotous roar
lend their ominous touch and pour
electric tendrils of power and might
whip theirs arms of perilous fright
as others seek shelter, I am free
no manmade harm will come to me
as focus turns to the might of nature
I am part of that, I am mighty too
take me if you will, but when you do
we both triumph as we are
melded back into a star.
Walk with me in this maelstrom
embrace the gripping tide
this reality preens for all to see
dare to walk now next to me
nature’s orchestra is sacrament
to my aloneness and my community
I surrender to the peace of
walking in thunderstorms.
